Westport Green Village Initiative ("GVI") is a new grass roots non-profit established in Fall 2008 to support Westporters passionate about creating local environmental and community change.  Projects to date have included creating the Westport Town Farm and Staples HS Edible Garden, protecting the Bag Ban legislation, funding our Farmers Market and Earthplace energy study, sponsoring the Sherwood Mill Pond Preserve, Eco-Fest 2009, numerous film/lecture presentations and the like.

GVI has quickly built a thriving community of conscious energetic local leaders - reflecting the community's desire to evolve and grow.

We work in Westport because it is our town - but also with the goal of creating a model that can travel outside Westport.  Ridgefield and Fairfield are both considering launching GVIs!  We also have tried to find ways to support Save The Children - through which we can act locally and give globally.

GVI meets the second Tuesday of each month, 10:30AM, at the Westport Library.  Everyone welcome!!!
