GVI’s mission is to help make Westport a model green community by helping committed individuals and groups undertake green/community-building projects. Individual energy/persistence drives the project, but the success is based on the strength of the group.
We share a core belief that in living active communities - many of today's ills are not present. everthing we do is aimed at building local community in a sustainable way.
We bring planning, focus, energy, capital, staffing, etc. to what has traditionally been a decentralized unfunded volunteer effort. We are efficient low-key results oriented with no ego – no “territory” – no promoting or over-promising. We do this because we are crazy burning to help somehow – to make a difference – do our part.
We work with honesty and integrity together with people we like/respect and have fun doing it – wanting to be known as good citizens/partners. We accept differences and seek to persuade and co-opt rather than attack.
We are here for the long haul.
